Background :
Established 2020 as Mud Eel, Mud Crab, Aquaculture and Management Centre.
Functioning as basically with aquaculture and Fisheries management especially with Mud crab and Mud crab,
Facilitated in expansion of aquaculture of Mud eel, Mud crab, Pangas, Indian and exotic major carp, other minor carps, Indigenous fish species,
Continuing research, technical /resource support and services to aquaculture and open water management
Goal:
Enhancement of fisheries/aquaculture contribution in national production and support to livelihoods, both those of freshwater and coastal area, and wetland dependent rural people.
Objective:
Development of aquaculture technologies for improving production and quality seed and feed,
Ensure fish as a quality food,
Development of inland water management and resource conservation for supporting wetland depended community,
Appropriate transfer of technical and resource services to the academician farmers/fishers.
Thematic Area:
Fisheries and aquaculture technology generation for poverty and supporting rich nutrient for the human population,
Domestication of native fish species for use in aquaculture and genetic resource conservation,
Development/improvement of Aquaculture techniques suitable for various natural water,
Research on fish stock improvement, nutrition and health of aquaculture species,
Research on modality of co-management of wetlands for sustainable conservation and utilization.
Working areas and activities:
Selective breeding to improve the stock performance of aquaculture species,
Development of small-scale and low level-input base farming for poor community,
Productivity assessment of pond /cage/enclose/rice field to identify appropriate technology recommendation domain,
Implementation of research, more specifically fish nutrition, physiology, genetics and pathology for developing intensive fresh and coastal water fish farming system for commercially important native and exotic fish,
Environmental, Social and economical impact of aquaculture technologies and fish farming system Participatory fish,
Increase natural production of water to reduce supplementary feed of fish,
Participatory fish stock enhancement for vulnerable native fish in waterbody,
On farm testing and verification of generated technology and scientific information in farmers field,
Technical support to aquaculture specially mud eel and mud crab.

Find out of aquatic biodiversity status of Kangsha River,
Discovered and developed the technologies on
Mud crab Juvenile and grow out culture,
Crab fattening by Pen culture ,
Cage culture of crab,
Survey on stock assessment of mud crab with in Bangladesh
Fisher’s Livelihood development,
Control natural breeding of eel, nursery and culture management of eel,
Data on Sea bass culture in the coastal area,
Climate resilient sustainable management and conservation and biodiversity of wetland.
